Gently place the quail eggs in the boiling water and cook for 2 ½ – 3 minutes for soft boiled quail eggs, 3 – 3 ½ minutes for medium-boiled eggs, or 3 ½ – 4 minutes if you prefer your quail eggs hard boiled.
Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the eggs from the boiling water.
Place them in a bowl of ice water to cool. If you don’t have ice, you can run cold tap water over the eggs to cool them down quickly.
Once the eggs are cool enough to handle with your bare hands, peel them gently so they don’t break. Enjoy the eggs immediately with a sprinkle of salt.
